Welcome to World Building June! To start off this world building month off right, you should first know your subject in question, what is the world you are going to focus your creative juices flowing for the next 30 days? Our first prompt is the Introduction to Your World.
You need to focus on the unique core elements that make your world special. What key details (ie magic systems, aesthetic of your setting, scientific achievements, physics of your world, historical events, ) are integral to your build? What makes your world interesting? Why do you want to focus on this build?
The point of this prompt is to set a foundation for the rest of the prompts coming later on. Consider details that are non-negotiable when it comes to shaping your world. Things may shift and change as you work on your build and take new factors into consideration, but there should be a solid foundation that makes your world your own.
If you are struggling with where to begin on this prompt, I suggest you start with a genre (ie sci-fi, fantasy, alternate universe, etc) and go from there. Make a basic summary of your world as if you were pitching this idea to a publisher. Remember, there is a whole month to come to help you fill out the details so all you need right now is an idea. Of course, if you already have a lot of details planned, then you can go ahead and share those too. There is no such thing as too much or too little when it comes to answering these prompts.
There is no right or wrong way to participate in World Building June. You can work on the prompts with words or drawings or anything that helps you document your build. It is not necessary to follow the prompts so long as you do a bit of world building every day.
Happy World Building June, Everyone!
