Welcome to Cavdoreal the Great Lost Undercity! The City of Cavdoreal is an underground metropolis located under the capital city of ██████. Cavdoreal is the home of a vaulted underground religious cult living in the cave city built in the 1950s, more than 70 years ago according to the date markers on the oldest constructions found on the site. Sources claim the group has existed for centuries and is known as the Order of the Great Fisherman. They worship the Founder of Cavdoreal as a savior from an event we know as the Night in Scarlet.
The City of Cavdoreal's history claims to start in the wake of a global event known as la Nuit Rouge (Meaning: the Red Night). Where a great fire from Beyond descended upon the the material world to purge it from its sins.
The reason of the existence of such a city is unknown, but it is hypothesized to be some kind of backup city, an underground bunker of sorts for the selected few who came down here and left their mark on this abandoned metropolis.
Understanding the history of this lost underground city in ruins is no easy task, for elements of the world from down below seems to clash with the world up above, but from his clash and contradictions one might be able to decode the true nature and history from forgotten underground.
Name of CavdorealAccording to one theory, the name Cavdoreal derives from cave d'or royal (Royal Gold Cellar or most`likely Royal Gold Cave).
Population of CavdorealCavdoral's population consists mostly of homeless families who have been forced out of their homes by the great fire that burned half the city during the Night in Scarlet and cult members who followed the holy man down into the unknown abyss to rebuild society. The Order of the Great Fisherman claims they are the only ones worthy enough to live in the caves beneath the streets and refuses to allow anyone else inside. The people of ██████ know nothing of this underground civilization as most believe they all died in the great fire. Some of the children born and raised inside of Cavdoral describe it as a community of lost souls where everyone is desperate for acceptance, love, and shelter.
Exploring the Undercity of Cavdoreal[2012 / 12 / 21] - Today was the day I finally made it into the depths of the underground. To say that it's a labyrinth would be an understatement. The first level of the temple was easy enough to navigate but once you get deeper into the cave system, it gets more and more difficult. They must've used a ton of magic to create these tunnels and pathways because without a map or guide it's nearly impossible to tell where you're going. I could barely make out anything from a distance so even when I found a tunnel that looked promising, I'd often find myself lost again. I can't imagine what would happen to me if I actually got turned around.
[2013 / 04 / 26] - I'm starting to think that all of the secrets and mysteries surrounding this place are just a distraction designed to make us keep exploring. I know we've only been here a couple of months but it feels like the whole thing is a trap. We need to figure out a way to break through the barrier that's preventing us from getting to the bottom of this place. Maybe the answer lies in the documents in the library. As far as I can tell, we've only been cataloging the books for less than a week and I'm already sick of looking at them. I wish I had more time to read them but there is just too much else that needs my attention right now.
[2013 / 05 / 13] - The search for the secret door continues, and I've found another clue! There was a painting on the wall of the crypt depicting a group of explorers fighting off a demon in the ruins of a temple. Whoever did the artwork must've been very important to the Order because they spared no expense and commissioned a master painter. Unfortunately, none of the other paintings in this part of the temple match up with it. This means that the picture I saw might not exist on any of the other walls. But that doesn't mean we should give up hope. I'm going to search through everything I can find and see if there are any other hidden gems.
[2013 / 06 / 06] - It's a mirrored city... The whole undercity layout is a distorted mirror version of ███████. Now that I know, maybe I can finally map this place properly... It doesn't stop the uncanniness of this abandoned city. One second I'm walking down the same corridor I've already walked down ten times before and the next I'm standing in complete darkness. I thought I'd heard something behind me but the only thing I found was the remains of a strange mutated dead rat in the corner. Well, it seems that I still have a lot of exploring to do. I don't want to believe that anything could live down here but then again, I didn't expect to find a gigantic squid-like cave creature. If that's the case, I guess I shouldn't rule out anything.
[2013 / 06 / 13] - It's been a week since I've finally found my bearings down here. I can definitely claim that Cavdoreal is a full scale mirrored reconstruction the city of ███████ as it would've been seen during the late 18th to mid-19th century. A key feature of this reconstruction is that the Temple of the Great Fisherman is located in the same coordinates as the Saint ██████ Cathedral, but everything left of the church in the overcity is located right of the undercity church and vice versa. This has to mean something right?
[2013 / 06 / 15] - I went to explore the Temple again, the Temple of the Great Fisherman is a giant cathedral structure that looks like it came straight out of the Gothic era with a great dome topping it. Atop the dome is a golden statue of the 4 winged guardian angel of Cavdoral that glows in the dark.
A few days after you first arrive in Cavdoral, the Order will begin construction on a large temple complex they call the Temple of the Great Fisherman. You'll soon learn that the Temple is not just a church but a place of learning and enlightenment. It houses a library filled with supposed ancient manuscripts dating back hundreds of years and holds a collection of artifacts from around the globe that no one has ever seen before. A team of scholars and priests is constantly working to keep the books and relics safe and accessible for any interested parties.

The building is surrounded by a moat-like artificial lake that acts as a barrier between them for unknown reasons as of now, but some theorize that the conditions in the undercity might've caused a civil war between the upper and lower classes. The walls of the cathedral have many symbolic carvings and are covered in gold leaf. The temple has four levels, two above ground and two below the surface. In addition to the main cathedral, there are three additional wings. The western wing houses offices, classrooms, and libraries while the eastern side contains a kitchen, dining hall, infirmary, and dormitories. The eastern wing also includes an auditorium and theater, which seems unnecessary considering the number of other theaters and performance spaces in the city. The northernmost wing consists of a chapel, crypt, and burial chambers for the founder of Cavdoral, the holy man known as the Fisherman.
The south wing is a small museum housing ancient treasures collected by the Order of the Great Fisherman and the alleged "real" history of the forgotten undercity. The temple has a pair of bell towers that act as a clock tower and chime every hour, even after the people mysteriously vanished. Two stone gargoyles stand guard outside the entrance and are said to be the ghosts of the founding members who died in the great fire. The main street near the marketplace has been rebuilt and new structures are being erected every day. Old buildings and monuments have been torn down and replaced with new buildings. It's worth noting that even if these buildings parallel their overworld counterpart in Techwyn City, but the designs of those new buildings seem to reflect the aesthetics of the 1950s. The streets and roads remain unpaved and rocky. Many of the buildings are still made of stone and some of them even look like they were carved out of the walls of the cavern itself. There is a distinct lack of automobiles in Cavdoral for obvious reasons, and there are books are questionable origins scattered throughout the city. The following is an exploration report after discovering the Undercity of Cavdoreal: History of CavdorealAccording to the documentation found in the ruins of Cavdoreal, the city was founded by a person only referred to as the Great Fisherman, not much is known by this individual, it is even debated if the Great Fisherman was even real. What is known is that the people living in the undercity had their own religion and it is quite possible that the local clergy were also the ruling class as every poster and book found down here were all wearing the stamp of approval from L'ordre du Grand Pêcheur (Local name for Order of the Great Fisherman).
The Order of the Great Fisherman's Cathedral seems to be the main focus of the bunker city as even with the stained remains of the ruins around it, the church seems to have been one of the most well kept buildings here, despite it also being one of the oldest according to the date markers.

The council was created to manage the affairs of the underground city of Cavdoreal. In addition to managing the everyday operations of the city, the council also directs the development and expansion of technology. Their goal is to make Cavdoral self-sufficient and independent from the surface world. They spend most of their time researching advanced technologies and experimenting with various inventions and scientific discoveries. In the beginning, the council consisted of twelve founding members including the Fisherman himself. Over the years, the membership of the council has changed drastically. Most recently, the council grew even larger when it absorbed the Order of the Great Fisherman in 2015. Members of the council include: The Fisherman (founder) – The head of the council, he is the figurehead for the Order of the Great Fisherman and is considered a living god by the citizens of Cavdoral. He oversees the operation of the Temple of the Great Fisherman. – The head of the council, he is the figurehead for the Order of the Great Fisherman and is considered a living god by the citizens of Cavdoral. Entering the city, located exactly one kilometer underneath the original city of ███████, you are welcomed with the sight of a great golden statue of a four-winged feminine angel inviting you with her open arms, gazing down at you warmly with what I can only describe as a false sense of security. Under the angelic monument you can see a plaque with the message:
"Welcome to the glorious city of Cavdoreal. In 1950, the world from above was set into flames during the bloody Red Night, the end of the world.
It's all thanks to our Marvelous Great [REDACTED] Fisherman, our [REDACTED] founder, that we managed to survive the [REDACTED] eternal flames who still burn our motherland after all these years. 10,000 years of flames before our mother earth will be reborn from its ashes like a angelic phoenix, but this event will be for our future generations to bear witness. While we wait, my dear [REDACTED] I wish aň̸̖͔̓͛̕ [ŭ̶̞͍̏̋̋n̴̡͓͑̃]fortunate welcome to [REDACTED] Cavdoreal, our [REDACTED] new Eden." It's obviously a very loose translation and sadly there are certain pages of the plaque that might've been altered or lost to time, but the reference to the "bloody Red Night" in 1950 seems to match an event known as the Bloody Night in Scarlet in ███████ City. The tale claims that the city suffered a severe fire that originated on the south shore of ███████ River and rapidly crossed the river, spreading throughout the city, burning half of it. The houses that fell victim to the Night in Scarlet were in the hundreds, but somehow reports claim no one died in the hellish blaze. The fact that the undercity is located under ███████ City and share common similar events, I think what I'm looking at might be a backup city built, lived in and controlled by a doomsday cult.
The Order of the Great Fisherman
The Order was founded by the same mythical person to founded this underworld city, the Great Fisherman, but the question is who or what was this person? There isn't much fishing in an underground cave, so why the name le Grand Pêcheur?
